4003S vs 4003

Your statement didn't seem to portray your personal preference in bass tonality, that's all Jeff - more of a general judgment on the 4004 not being as good as the 4003.
In my experience, for Blues/Jazz - the 4004 is ideal, especially the Cheyenne II.
You're into Rock and Blues, like I am; I'd say that the 4003 does things the 4004 doesn't, and vice-versa; designed for different roles: hummers vs single coils, etc.

Jeff - since you're such a big fan of the 2000 Series - maybe this one's for you - 2020 "Hamburg" Midnight Blue:

Well..... this all started with the idea of getting a 4003S. Well I didn't get it, but I did get a very tasty V63 MG made in 1986!
I tracked it down, drove many miles, haggled quite a bit & came home with a very nice bass.
The only downside, hence the haggle is that the output from the bridge pup is very low. Any ideas?
Thanks for all your help chaps, I wouldn't have got this bass without a bit of 'prodding'.
Also the main reason I like it so much is the sound is very vintage. It sounds in may ways more like my '73 F***** P than my 4001.
All the best ( a rather happy ) Bob
