My 730L MG does not have the E3 option, so I will need to record it on my Korg D16 through my Shure SM57 microphone. I will try to do that this week. In the meantime, here is a little bit of my first attempt at multitrack recording:

http://www.geocities.com/glclauson/SoundBytes/YGTHYLA3.MP3

(If you have trouble accessing it, try later, as GeoCities has restrictions/limitations on my bandwidth.)
The acoustic guitar heard is my 730L MG through the SM57, but this was originally a 4-track analog tape (Tascam Portastudio 3) transferred over to the Korg D16 with the guitar part double-tracked (from the original single analog track; some interesting phasing stuff going on later in the song), then other instruments and vocals were added as separate tracks, with a final mix-down to L/R stereo 2-track.

The bass was one of my 4003s, but I can't remember which one.

After seeing Bill's acoustics, I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a Comstock 12 string. I've been toying with the idea for quite a while, but those gorgeous pictures finally did it for me!

What color will the Comstock be, Steve?

No matter what the color, you will not be disappointed!

I do record but I'm in the middle of building a studio so most of the recording gear is packed. I'll try to get over to a friend's house at some point to record on his gear. I'll try to get some stereo samples up using SM81's, AT 4033s and a mono with a KSM44. Time is tight so it may be a while.

The Comstock sounds BIG. It has a huge low end and a sparkling, clear top. Best sounding acoustic 12 I've heard or played and many who've heard it agree, including the store that I bought it from.

The Shiloh is a bit quiet & tight but very well balanced tonally. I don't play it as much as the 12 and it needs to be played more to open up a bit. Never the less, a fellow acoustic player thinks it's the best Dreadnought he's heard. It plays like a dream. Similar to an electric and I've got .012s on it. I think I'll play it now.

Cheers,
Bill

Gary - after seeing the beautiful maple they've used in other RIC acoustics, I'm just going to keep her Mapleglo. Blue Burst had crossed my mind, but I decided to order a 4004Cii in that finish instead (I'm mainly a bass player). Now I just have to wait it out until delivery!

Even that picture doesn't do it full justice!

Everybody seem to like the Comstocks. Here are a few more closeup shots of mine. The grain on the spruce top is very tight and it almost has a little flame of it's own.

Amazing!

I'd love to be able to sit down and play that baby everyday.

Beautiful! I have a question about the saddle. Is it compensated? I can't tell from the photo....

Could we please see some closeups of the 6 string! I'm a huge fan and want to see the wood grain of the back and sides. Looks amazing. Might just order one myself but I need more feedback. It seems kind of a dare if you have never seen one or heard one in person to order one ya know.

I did it.... And was not disappointed at all! Every time I pick my Comstock up I am amazed at how good it sounds.... it sounds even better than it looks, if such a thing is possible!
