Howard

Let me know if you want to go and I'll get a couple of tickets for the Wednesday night, Sept 27th, game.

Also let me know if you need airport pickups. The cab ride from the airport to downtown hotels can run $45 to $50.

I'm in, Bob.... I'd love to see the game!!

Very kind of you to offer to pick me up also, Bob. Please be sure that it won't interfere with your working day. I can post or email you the flight number if you like.

I won't be needing a lift back to the airport.... I'll be in the clutches of Lindsay and family for the next 4 days or so. Image

It should be a decent game. As of today the Cardinals are in first place in the NL Central and the Padres are leading the NL Wildcard race.

It's a done deal, Howard. I'll stop at Busch Stadium (yes, the Busch beer people have the naming rights to my town's stadium) tomorrow and get a couple of tickets for Wednesday's game.

If any other forum members who live in the vicinity would like to go (or if Graham or Darren or Bjorn or anyone else would like to fly in) let me know. We'll all to to Howard's first baseball game.

Howard, email me your flight information off-line or post it here. Either one works for me.

I teach on Tuesday night but am free most of the afternoon that day so picking you up shouldn't be a problem. Let me know the time and I'll check my schedule and get back to you.

Beer here!! -- ah, the sounds of baseball.

Great, Bob! I'm really looking forward to it. Mmmmmm..... dogs and beer at a ball game....

I guess I'm now a Cardinals fan!

I'll be on Northwest flight NW4725, which lands at Lambert at 12:07pm. If there are any probs let me know - I'm sure I can find my way to the city from there. I'll be staying at the Wyndham Mayfair Hotel on St. Charles street.

Well, it's only a flying visit, Nate. I'll be arriving by train from Toronto around 1:15pm on the 14th and flying out at 10:15am the next morning. I'm booked at the Hyatt Regency for the night. If there's a chance we can catch up then I'd like to do that, of course........ gotta see if one of the caps fits! Image

Nice hat!! When we get to our seats I'll have to tell everyone you're a new Cardinal fan attending his first game. My guess is that you'll become an instant celebrity.

Pick up at the airport is no problem. I will meet you at the baggage area. We'll head out and have some lunch. I just need to be back at my office by 3:00 pm.

As luck would have it your hotel is only about 6 or 7 blocks from Busch Stadium. You're in the new cool loft area of town. They have renovated a number of historic buildings into hotels and loft apartments. Plenty of restaurants and bars.

If arrival plans change let me know but it sounds like we have a plan.

Well, I'd like to meet you at the train station and hang out a bit at the hotel with you, and then wish you luck on the flight the next day. Image

Hey Aitch and Darren,.....meanwhile, back in your hometown,Melbourne.
Very tragic news with the death of Steve Irwin(crocodile hunter) and now, today the death of motor racing legend Peter Brock in a rally event accident in perth!
It's finals time in the football, sorry Howard, the cats missed out! Demons play saints, pies play doggies, dockers play the crows, west coast play sydney!
Are you guys behaving????

Sounds just fine to me, Nate! I'll be arriving at Buffalo Exchange on VIA rail 464 at 1:15pm. Just keep your eyes open for a Rickenbacker t-shirt and bloody great big guitar flight case! Image

Greg: I read the news last night. I'm just coming to grips with Steve Irwin and now one of my greatest heros dies doing what he loved..... sheesh! Memories of all those Bathurst and touring car victories come flooding back....... Image

The footy pales into insignificance.....

Don't know about Darren, but I'm being a good boy - for the moment!! Image

Come on Greg, they're away from home - of course they're being good!!! As John Elliot would say "Pigs A#!*"

They're having too much fun with this new game called "bottles" from what I've read - LOL

I didn't realise you were a pussy cat supporter Howard - so am I, another coincidence?

The "D's" rolled the Saints so their season is over.

How's the sight seeing going in Canada?

It's going great, Ron! Brian and his wife are perfect hosts as were Paul and his wife and daughter. Too bad I'm not a perfect visitor, but one outta two ain't nothin' to be sneezed at, eh? Image

Note the Canadian suffix 'eh'. Same as Queenslanders, 'but'.

Bloody Cats.... give you the screamin' heebie-geebies, don't they? At least my amateur club (Old Carey) has at least two teams in Grand Finals!!
