Thought I'd give ya'll a better look at the new Gurl Amber.
I call this "Beauty and the Beast".
And I just realized I could have called the one above "Amber/Fireglo".

You were one of the reasons I got the Avatar cabinets. Especially the blue Tolex. I'm also using a GK 7000 RBII. So it's basically a duplicate of your setup. I have been using GK for a while with GK cabinets, but I did not own the setup. When it came time to purchase, the GK was at the top of my list, but when researching cabinets the Avatar just keep coming up. I was a little cautious about ordering one unheard, but was very happy with the sound. My sound is a very "unscooped" mid-range sound, but with a nice crispy high end. These cabinets were able to produce that sound just like stock GK cabinets.

I'm very happy with them AND I can move them myself, which I can not do with the SVT's that I own. So thanks for turning me on to Avatar.

I just realized you also have a WHITE rick!!!!

We headlined a benefit gig a few weeks back, all the other bands were in awe at the tone and power I had with my rig. I got all the local guys looking into Avatars.

Sweet looking rig, Scott. Is that a 2x10 on top and 2x12 on the bottom? I've always been partial to 12" speakers. The cabinet I use the most live & for recording is my Hiwatt 4x12. It's loaded with 85-watt Celestions that were custom re-coned for bass response by a brilliant speaker builder out of Seattle. He works out of a little shop called 'Around The Sound.' He basically made the coils deeper and used a stronger canvas for the hinges. I like a nice clanky treble sound with a significant bottom end ala Chris Squire, and this cab totally fits the bill. The sucker cranks, too. I've never had a problem matching volume with any band I've played with. If anything, I get complaints that I'm too loud. (When will people understand that the BASS is the most important instrument????) I used to play through a 2x15 Acoustic Cab loaded with JBL's with the 4x12 on top of it, but the 2x15 cab was stolen awhile back. I've wanted to replace it, but the 4x12 seems to cut through just fine on its own, even with my "five-string minus 1." (I've got one Rick tuned B-E-A-D.)

The Avatars are a B212 NEO on the bottom, and B210 NEO on the top.

They both sound great individually, the 212 has more bottom, and the 210 is brighter., but together they're tough to beat.

I've never had much use for high frequency horns either, but I really like the sound of these.

On Dec 23rd, I had the honer of playing at a tribute show for a drummer friend of mine who passed away under tragic circumstances last October. His name was Greg Inverso, and he was an incredibly talented and BUSY drummer here in NYC. I played with him on a couple of different projects over the past three years or so. At the time that he died, he was in 3 bands that I'm aware of in addition to producing tracks for various other projects. He was 30 years old. He was steeped in what he loved to do, and his death was just one of those terrible things that makes you think: "Of all the people... why this guy?"

'EBE' was one of his main bands, and its members are mutual friends of mine & Greg's. Harrison Young of EBE organized this tribute show in Greg's honor and managed to get about a dozen musicians from Greg's circle of friends involved. After the EBE set, Harrison played a loop of Greg at his drum kit through the PA so we could all jam along with it. THAT was pretty cool. I hope to post the audio from this show sometime soon.
