Abbott, the best time that I had recently was when I went to Southpaw Guitars in Houston with fellow forumite Graham Griffiths. I was in heaven, he had three hours of what it is like for us in virtually all other guitar shops! I didn't know what to pick up next, and poor Graham was bored s***less!!!

sweet lefty revenge-tell Graham he needs to learn to play with the strings backward-tell him to try a first position g chord!

I couldn't tell you how many people have said " well can't you just string a righty backwards?" then I show them how I brush up against the controls if I did this and wonder where the volume went. Hendrix must have glued those knobs in place or maybe they weren't attached to the pots.

Peter-checked your site----"1971 Rickenbacker 4001 bass, mapleglo, checkered binding, 21 fret neck, full width crushed MOP inlays, in virtually mint unplayed condition, with case."-----your not selling That one are you?-- I know I wouldn't!

Noo, I just list most of what I have ('cos I'm a big head). The '71 and the 4005 aren't for sale, and to be honest I'm not sure if the '75 and v63 are either. Some of the 12's are though.

And the Strat thing, I too can't play an upside down righty 'cos I catch the volume control and turn it off all the time - I play the lefty white deluxe one now.

Wish I had those wings on mine-what A beauty! Wish my fretboard was darker like yours too. I like the black pickguard and trc I put on mine though-completely reversible of course (have the originals), and I think it looks great even without black hardware. Sorry but I would pass on the finger rest. Actually, I wouldn't touch your 71. Ultimately, I wish I had the bass they made that had the walnut wings and skunkstripe--in lefty. I suppose you would want to own that too. Where do you find all these lefties-at Southpaw?

I have travelled around a lot (and still do), some are from ebay and some just from being in the right place at the right time. I have this '75 fireglo with a skunk stripe...

Non of these came from Southpaw.

So, do you still like the 4005?

I'd like to place an order for 1-4005 and 1 4002--lefty of course. I think with those, I would have the walnut wing/skunkstripe headstocks I want (dont play guitar). I see i've got some catching up to do Peter.Probably could never catch up. Maybe I'll just start collecting lefty Alembics, I could settle for that.I just know it, now someone's going to post a killer lefty Alembic collection.

Left to right: Dad, Mom, twins (not exactly replicas but, like, born the same day...) and a junior... great collection Jerry...

LOL. One big happy family.

Well, compared with some of the collections I've seen at this forum, maybe not a big family, but happy!
