My ears are still faintly ringing with the jangle of Rickenbackers. It was a blast--thanks again to Kira for herding cats and making it happen. It was really good to meet all of you guys and gals in person. North of Malibu did a great power set--I especially liked the version of "She Said, She Said" you guys did. The Bobbleheads also rocked a great power-pop set. The jam for the rest of the afternoon was also fun--wish I knew a few more tunes. I'll have to study up for the next outing.

I have a few pics--will try to post them tomorrow. I'm beat.

Thanks to the Wilczynski family for the hospitality and a great brunch.
Thanks to Paulie for the waffles. Now I say say I've has the awesome PGA waffles in two different locations!

Great to finally meet the NorCal people that I haven't met before.

The Bobbleheads rock and were alot of fun to see and hear.

Gary (modrock), I hope you're feeling better soon. Sorry you has to leave so early!
George, sorry I missed meeting you.

I'll resize pics when I get home.

Lots of fun! It's great to put faces to the names I've run into on this forum. Thanks to everyone for bringing all those killer Rics! Kira's 360-12CW may be the best-playing Ric 12 I've ever had my hands on, and Doug's modded 375 sounds like a great Ric should (and few of 'em do). If I ever get my hands on a 370 or 375, I'll definitely do the "Doug mod"--separate volumes for each pickup, and a push-pull pot for the bass-cut capacitor on the bridge pickup. Strat- and Tele-like sounds, as well as classic Ric sounds. Very cool.

Once again, the universe farts in my face.

I was supposed to have the day off for once. Then my replacement called in sick and I had to go in for the day.

Then they tell me I can leave at 3:00 p.m. so I can at least make the last half of the day.

Then we get swamped and I actually get to leave at 7:40 p.m.

At least my basses had a nice day out in the car.

I shall now just sulk and experience the event from your pictures and tales.

Next time. Next time. :?

Sorry you couldn't make it, Gareth. We were hoping you'd show even if it was late. Yes, hopefully next time!

I was a week too early. I wish I could have made it back down. I would have loved to share my collection. I would've brought them all. I'm glad you all had a good time.

To everybody traveling home today, drive safely and get home in one piece. :)

I was having too much fun to remember my camera. :( I guess we need to wait till people get home and upload.

I wonder who came farther - Woody and Ed from the Oregon Coast, or Paul in Long Beach. In any case, this has got to be a record of driving miles logged for a confluence.

Gareth, that's a pity that work conspired against you. :( We'll count you in for next time. :)

Here are the pics I managed to take. Sorry I didn't manage to capture everyone--there was a lot going on! My captions may be off, so please correct any errors you see and I'll edit...

Dan's 1997 and someone's (?) 1973 620 (both are real beauties):
Image

A few of the great basses that Joey and Woody brought:

Another shot:

Rich's really nice 360-12:

And his 370 with a HB in the bridge:
Image

Paul's Big Red cavorts with an older blonde lady:
Image

Some of Kira's collection with my two oldies in the back:
Image

Big Red Eyes (and big blue shoes)...Paul jams through my rig (was this when you guys played Come Together?):
Image

Dan, Steve, Harry, and Paul playing Come Together.
Image

Talk about guitar (and bass) face! Dan, Steve, and Harry showin' us how it's done.
Image

Dan, standing like Bill Wyman.
Image

Harry laying down a groove with his mid-70's 4001:
Image

Jon with my '64 375. His last name really sums up his playing. That guitar has never sounded as good as when he played it!
Image

And he wasn't afraid to let rip on Kira's awesome CW sig, either! Check out the figure on that guitar!
Image

Joey with a white 4000 (I forgot who's bass). I think he likes it!
Image

Joey plays while Diane looks(?) on. Hey, are you slappin' and poppin' on that Rick?
Image

Kira and her neighbor (didn't catch his name) hanging out front. I hope someone got a good shot of Kira playing bass at the beginning of the Jam!
Image

Harry (of North of Malibu) wonders if you can you play instro surf on these little things?
Image

Yes you can--just grab that thing right there!
Image

Rich lays down the law with his 370 during the Jam:
Image

Thomas (?) who runs Music Spectrum sat in on drums for about half of the jam. He's the master of the extended ending :-):
Image

Woody with some of the basses on display:
Image

Woody tries out a C64(?) while Kira looks on.

It was really great talking to you, Jon, and especially hearing you play. I don't suppose you give lessons, do you?

I can't take credit for the mods I made--it's a combination of a couple of things that have been posted on this forum and the RIC forum for a while. I just did the soldering :-). I hope you can add a nice vintage Rick to your collection soon!

Wish you could have stayed longer and jammed with us. Hopefully next time!
