Ruby Red
I like it. I would like it better on a 21 fret 330 or 360.

Re: NAMM 2012
Thanks for all of the pictures to everyone who posted. Even though I'm not in the market seeing Ruby's re-debut is great, and Eric and the others behind it are doing an amazing job. I wish I had a reason to buy one. I'm sure even the people who "grumble" at the news still appreciate seeing them.
I look forward to seeing RIC continue its slow but steady roll-out of genuine improvements through 2012 and beyond, instead of wasting time each new year debuting a new ****** feature everyone will pan like a "greasebucket" circuit or whatever else. Just sayin'. (No offense to any other musical instrument companies intended, but let's all be happy that we aren't being fed bucketloads of hype about new stuff we never wanted.)

Yeah. I don't know if that was a feature of the guitars previously or not--Ric guitars are not on my radar, just like any other guitar really. But I did wonder if this was going to stir up some emotions, maybe it's old news though? CB is not on my radar either.sloop_john_b wrote:Am I missing something? What checkered binding? When I stop being a pipet monkey and get my full doctorate, maybe I'll start seeing things differently...!cjj wrote:Uhhh... what's reason got to do with it??!?!??!?!?!cassius987 wrote:Even though I'm not in the market seeing Ruby's re-debut is great, and Eric and the others behind it are doing an amazing job. I make more now than I did in high school and undergrad, but not by nearly as much as I would if I were working a "real job" and not a grad student lab slave. Back then I didn't have nearly so many bills to pay, and I was practically swimming in gear. Of course I didn't know what a Rickenbacker was (some kind of microwave popcorn?) until I was just getting out of this phase so I had to buy 'em up quick.
OT for one more paragraph... We actually had some layoffs at work recently as a result of the automatic spending cuts that happened to the congressional budget, so we lost a couple of Associate Profs. One of them is going on to be a full-time drummer now. In a way it's scary for him but in a way I envy him too. Freelancing as a rhythm player is so much fun, and pays well enough if you keep busy. Family is probably the biggest drawback to this in my experience, not job security, as it makes it way too easy to neglect my wife when I'm playing gigs all the time. If things aren't right with her, nothing's right.
Re: NAMM 2012
Yeah, I know the feeling. BTDT as they say. Of course, after your doctorate, there will be student loans to pay and all that. I'm just funnin' with ya. Keep working at that degree, it will be worth it. And sometime after you've got a real job, got all of the family stuff out of the way (which is worth WAY more than any guitar will ever be BTW), you'll be able to buy whatever ya want...cassius987 wrote:When I stop being a pipet monkey and get my full doctorate, maybe I'll start seeing things differently...!cjj wrote:Uhhh... what's reason got to do with it??!?!??!?!?!cassius987 wrote:Even though I'm not in the market seeing Ruby's re-debut is great, and Eric and the others behind it are doing an amazing job. The pickin's were REAL slim this year. Even Dunlop which gave away practically everything except pedals in the past years, gave away absolutely NOTHING!ajish4 wrote:Hey Namm attendees,
