I broke my left hand three months ago and it hasn't really recovered yet, so I haven't been playing much; and if I'd been taking photos at the time, you'd notice my squint 5th finger and think, 'what sort of guitar player must she be?' Besides, I haven't been in a band for yonks so there aren't any onstage photos. I'm not a very good example of the genre!

Cool custom truss rod cover. Is that binding or tape on the headstock?

The headstock looks cool, Becky! I was wondering the same thing.

Headstock binding is like the perfect cream cheese icing on a succulent carrot cake. That is gorgeous. There's a website out there somewhere that describes the restoration of a 4001 that was badly damaged (neck in particular), and totally re-done with a purple gloss finish (with tiger striping in the wood) and binding all throughout. I'm sure someone here has seen it. Apparently, my google skills aren't pulling it up right now.

I'm slightly ashamed to admit that it's not bona fide binding. About ten years ago I decided I wanted a 'deluxe' headstock to match the body, so I made do with the materials to hand. I could never understand why Rickenbacker didn't make them that way in the factory, and I'd never seen another like it. One day I'll have a luthier do a proper job.
Oh, and dinnae fash yersels; the original nameplate is safe and sound.

Nice to see you, Rebecca.
I was in Ediburgh a year ago today -and wish I was back! Even if I got tossed out of the Tass, I felt quite at home there.

Hello all,
This is my first post here, and I thought I'd post a photo of me playing my 2005 4003FG in my music room.
