The sofa has become grey.
That 1997SPC/VB was used in the studio yesterday -sparkling through a Fender Super Sonic and growling through an AC30 (the Fender sounds SO MUCH BETTER).

Kent, hate to say this again, but this topic has been discussed a few times before.
First off, I purposely asked McGuinn and Kantner to sign in places where my hands and arms would not rub against it.
Second, they both used (the same) permanent black marker.
A long time ago I asked Paul W. for advice on how to cover and protect the autographs. He gave me his usual sage wisdom but I have admitted that I chickened out and never went through with the process.
So I go on handling the guitar as gently as when my children were newborns.
The names only have to last as long as I do. (Or as long as I can still play.) And let’s be honest, we’re not talking about eons of time here.
My only real concern is what happens if I ever have to bring it to a shop for something. (I have been mulling over changing the nut.) I have a great local tech but in reality would he (or his staff) be as careful as I am?

If not, I would think twice about getting any work done there!
I'm more careful/considerate with other people's gear than I am with mine because it belongs to someone else! I would expect the same from a professional repair tech/luthier.

Kevin, please understand. Several people on this forum know who I'm referring to as my local tech. They have done excellent work for me in the past. (Remember the "hammer" story?") And I'm sure they would be extremely careful.
It is just the general sense of anxiety about the unknown. Accidents do happen. If it was my fault I have no one else to blame.
It's like today. My au pair is taking the kids out sight seeing. I'm sure she will be very careful. But I will feel a lot better once they're all back home.

I realized the other day that in over forty years of playing, nobody has ever even taken my picture with a guitar, it was always a bass, even though I've always owned guitars, too. Better late than never - at least this one is a good guitar to start with. Now if I can figure out how you're supposed to grab these suckers maybe we'll get some pix of me actually playing it!
