nice site ... yep we play some of the same stuff ... my band has 75% of the playlist being songs from 1990 or later ... so we are more focused on modern rock ...
you should try playing come together on a 5 string and start that riff on the low D with a some treble and distortion ... it gives the song a heavier more modern feel ... and the green day song is cool played on a 4004 ...

we're trying to get more modern songs into our mix, but it's been rough. 2 of the guys are stuck in the 70s...hahaha!
as for come together...well, I don't own a 5 string....I guess I could tune down my other guitar and play it on that

yep ... 2 guys in my band like the 80's a little too much ... we are currently reforming the band ... we have 2 new members and we are dumping several older songs and learning some new stuff ... Away from the Sun - 3 doors down ... Feeling way too damn good - Nickelback ... Harder to Breathe - Maroon 5 ...
We dumped Johnny b Goode, Born to be Wild, Some kind of wonderful, Honkey tonk women, mustang Sally, Brown eyed girl,
Try a 5 string bass ... there is a mental adjustment you go through ...
I am hooked on the 5 string bass ... I have 2 really nice 4 string rics ... a '68 4001 and a brand new 4003 ... neither gets played ... I just gotta have a low B ...

I cannot find a good Rick 5 so I have a stingray 5.. sometimes, those extra 6 notes are ABSOLUTELY necessary and it rocks....I now have 5 Ricks. New pix shortly...

hey I got TWO 5 string Ric basses for sale right now ...
http://www.3dentourage.com/425/forsale.htm
The fireglo is a looker and it has a really nice neck and it sounds really good ...
the gothic black one has a little more clarity than most 4003 basses and the black on black is a nice look ...
Both have a wider bridge string spacing than the 4003s5 basses ...
there is NOTHING cooler than getting the low B and a Ric growl on the same bass

Black on Black - it is pretty cool isn't it? Here's a fan shot showing my 4003jg at our Norwich, UK gig.

ya ... you are one of those guys with big Chris Squire hands ... I have guitarist sized hands so the 2 1/4" spacing at the bridge is no problem ...
Someday you will have to try a 4004CII5

I am making a bass right now just like philip's. I just acquired the 1980 4003 and I am blacking it out with the chrome trim....like that tailpiece Jeff?

Something about the almost all black treatment that cranks me up. On the 1991 MB w/BT that i just received, the bridge and pickup surrounds are now chrome. It looks better to me that way.

Ver nice pic Phillip - the lighting almost makes your bass look like it has a carved top (ala the 381).
