Skip: i've once "written" a short simple solo, a sort of a ragtime, and i'm eager to find out how it would sound played on an electric!!!! Image

Cool! Usually when I pick up a guitar, I play a bunch of songs which sorta' segue into other songs w/a bunch of lead and instrumental bits thrown in for good measure.
Stuff like I'll Be On My Way, It's Only Love, Happy Just to Dance w/You, Please Please Me....(and assorted others. Lots of different artists, too!)
The Beatles- Words of Love lead guitar is neat to work into the mix also!

Well my favourite songs to play on the 325 are:
Any of those old rock n roll songs which appear on 'Live at the BBC', All My Loving (of course), You Really Got A Hold On me, This Boy, I'll Get You, All I've Got To Do etc.
I've had a number of electrics before this one, but nothing came near to when I first picked it up and played Twist and Shout on it.
Wonderful!Image

>>>I'll Be On My Way

Nice to hear someone else mention that one. I was thinking that my band was the only ones doing that song (one of the few on the list that I sing lead on).

Like they used to say about Pete Best (Mean, Moody, Magnificent), I'll Be On My Way is SIMPLE, SILLY, SUPER.

I thought 'I'll Be On My Way' was one of the forgotten treasures that finally turned up on 'Live At The BBC' - great Lennon/McCartney harmonies throughout and pure, simple songwriting. Wouldn't have been out of place on either of the first two records. In fact I'm very fond of a lot of the songs John and Paul gave away to others in the early days i.e. Hello Little Girl, I'm In Love, Bad To Me etc.

Welcome to this forum Pete! Believe me, you will enjoy it!
It's great to hear that the new generation loves that music as much as i do,goodonyamate!
Love your 325!
Just had to have a look at my copy of "BBC",as i remember hearing when i first bought it,just how good their covers were, let alone their originals!
"A shot of rhythm and blues","Carol",Johnny B Goode".....and my alltime favourite...any version they ever did of 'I saw her standing there"!

Greg, after reading both yours and Peter's post I have been thinking about how truly precise their music was in the early 60s, BBC, etc. At times it is a little less tight, but for the most part quite incredible. why? Listen to their vocal, which was usually right on and the music was quite intricate at times for a two guitar, bass & drum band. The result was quite astounding. I am not sure if their sound (then), can be put into one category either, but IMO, it was a really cool mixture of early rock and rockabilly. When I listen to the BBC recordings I am also struck at how "up front" George is; more lead vocals and his guitar was dominant in their sound. Musically, they were ready for a signature sound and when it emerged, it was something new. They weren't flukes, they were good. George Martin is no fluke and he will tell you how awestruck he was working with them from beginning to end. Individually, they were each great; add them together and it was pure magic. Still is.

Sorry I got off the subject.
