That is a great idea too! We had tossed around the idea of renting a studio for a night, but didn't want to include it in the "official" business of the Confl, as we didn;t want to burden the folks with the long trips. I suppose one of us could rent it and anyone that wanted to could chip in...

Yes Charly, an SVT and 4x10 cab is overkill for this room, that's why I offered to bring my PortaBass 250 and 2x10 cab. I think some people are thinking of last years venue. There was some spontaneous jamming at this venue in '05, but it was just that and there were no drums or PA. John's idea of going to a local club that may be having an open mic night would be great.

The Detroit Bar is WAY cool. I used to live next door to it. Maybe 5 or 6 miles from the hotel.

Doesn't look like there's anything happening there that night either...

I hope to have a 2x10 or 12 by then so we could have a backup 250 and cab, or ROS! I mainly wanted to see the SVT put through some real paces, instead of just a church environment.... Although maybe our Powerblocks are plenty for the bridge pup. Dane, I hope you don't think I'm just copying your setup. I DO LIKE your amp selections!! The combos get a little heavy for the same specs!

I think the easiest thing to do would be to rent the showcase room at a nearby Sound Arena. That way we wouldn't have to worry about amps, drums, or a PA at all.

I like JH's idea.
The problem with renting a room at Sound Arena is do we have enough cars to get people, guitars and maybe amps there and back to the hotel and why spend all that money on a conference room in a hotel if many, if not all will wind up at a studio?

A plus at the 75th was seeing someone's cool guitar and asking them if you could play it, then going up to the jam and playing it.

That couldn't happen at sound arena.

Exactly Joey. This could become a major cluster if we start moving people and stuff in and out of the hotel to remote locations. A basic stage setup and backline is all we need along with a couple small practice amps.

I'm thinking we should pre-register instruments, get an instrument and head count.
I'll put that together if everyone attending / bringing an instrument emails the info to me. We should record instrument model, finish and serial #'s.

I've decided against bringing anything, Joey. The risk of damage is a little higher this time and I figure there's a chance a kind-hearted soul might allow me to play one of theirs. Image

A calendar month to go..... woohoo!!

Any new info or news? Should I bring my water wings and budgie smugglers if we go to the beach? Image

You mean there isn't a beach somewhere near with a bar on it!! I'm thinking 'Cocktails and Dreams' here! Oh well...... guess I'll leave the wings at home and take the budgie out of the smugglers. Image

Aitch, if you like playing bass also, feel free to play any one of mine! Image
