You HAVE to bring that to the Confluence in May! Great piece of history that would fit well with the other great pieces of history that will be present in Columbus.
Congratulations!

Sean, I actually womdered about that. If Rickenbacker the company would be interested in this piece for archival purposes, or maybe they have one.

Not a chance, Marc! Scott Jennings (Route 66 Guitars) had an earlier one years ago and sold it to Michael Anthony. He knew JH then and if there was interest, he would have done it then, in my opinion.

And he's selling it "for a friend"... Does ANYONE sell stuff on ebay for themselves???? I'm amazed at how many charitable people seem to be out on ebay selling guitars for "Friends"..
I'd like to see pics too...

I emailed John Hall and he graciously replied that Rickenbacker is not interested.
Gene, I think I have mentioned a few times that I think this guy has been honest and sincere. I think Mike posted the pictures, but you can email him and request them. He emailed me 19 photos of the bass. This is for real.

I knew my ears were burning...
This bass looks cool to me from the photos Mike posted. The finish on these buff up nice. Then again, I haven't seen it in person yet.
I sold Mike Anthony B7102 in 1989, along with several 4005's, including a WB, WB/6, /8, a WB/8(!), and others. Tom from Cheap Trick got a few as well. If only I had that stuff these days. Mike Gutierrez would be my slave...
Here's a shot of B7102. If I can get the negative of it from Jeff Veitch I may start selling posters of these old things I used to have...

>>I wonder how it sounds!
I think my quote back in '89 was that it sounded like smacking the low register of a Steinway with a ball peen hammer. I'll stand by that.
My tech at the time I had the above bass was quite insane (I'm sure he still is), and plugged the bass into the Marshall Major stack we had. The upstairs neighbors petitioned to have us evicted if it ever happened again. (I later sold the Marshall to Ed Van Halen, as he is the only person in the universe that plays that loud...)
These basses weigh a ton. McCartney complained that his 4001S gave him 'Rickenback,' and the early 4000s easily weigh twice as much.

Scott - if you start selling posters - put my down for a set - especially the 360F's I got from you. Guitar Gallery still the coolest store I've EVER been to!

Hi Graham,
I wish I still had some of those 360F & 370F models. I hope you still have yours. I'll call Jeffrey tomorrow and see what I can talk him into re: the images. He shot a lot of it in medium format, and they blow up pretty well. He's back in your part of the world, and it's hard to get him away from the pub and the wife to help his obsessive old friend.
I recently moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and have discovered that there isn't a single authorized RIC dealer here (now that GC is toast.) I swore never again to do the retail thing, but man I'm tempted.
Anyone besides Gutierrez coming to the guitar show next weekend?

Jeff, I'll push the Confluence to Scott when I see him in Dallas next week.
SJ!!! You are the perfect guy to chime in here with this particular bass. You are right! You would have owned me then. Scott I owe you a call. Didn't have my cel with me yesterday. Thanks for the very very funny lines you posted in this thread.
