Ah... "silly love songs" keeps coming back. I think it's great. Whatever...

As far as Little Richard goes he is a character, and he did get early R&R going. That doesn't mean he can't be a jerk, or annoying. It would seem often he is. I never really saw him as creepy, just an old queen. And I mean that as a compliment!

Of course the fact that his music is 50 years old or so shouldn't really matter unless one is preoccupied with staying "current" or something. I mean I'd take Little Richard over 3 doors down or Creed, or any of the screamo-emo complainer rock that is around now.

There is a lot of good new music too. But just because something is old doesn't automatically mean it's bad or something. Likewise, just because it is new or "current" doesn't mean it's good.

Jeez, John, after yesterday's comment by you, I found myself humming "Silly Love Songs" all evening. I had to take a sleeping pill to get it out of my system.

And, now, as you say, it keeps coming back.

Gotta find some Slayer or something...

Little Richard's music is quite annoying ... that constant dink, dink, dink of piano 8th notes mindlessly repeating a 1-4-5 progression ... it's as bad as disco ... give 3 Doors Down or Green Day or Creed any day ...

Well I dig Green Day, but Creed and 3 doors down are the most horrendous things to attack my ears EVER! OK, that may be taking it to an extreme, but god, I hate those bands.

And hey, what's wrong with disco? I love the Bee Gee's. Well actually I like disco in general, especially when dancing.

Though we are all Rickenbacker people and appreciate these guitars for being the incredible instruments and things of beauty that they are, we all have our own ideas and tolerance levels for different types of music.

A lot of our guitar players are here because of the Beatles, Byrds, and Searchers, and other lesser-known, but nonetheless luminary, groups.

Some bass players are here because of McCartney (?Pop), some because of Geddy Lee (?Canadian Bacon) or Lemmy (Classical, fer sure), and there are, again, all sorts of other musical tastes/preferences.

And if there's something we will NEVER agree on, it is precisely that. One man's pleasure is another's pain. It ain't the meat, it's the motion, etc.

Enjoy your instruments. Love your neighbor. Tolerate your fellow Forumite.

Personally, I find... nevermind...well, they're irritating, you know?

Good point!

Whatever anyone likes is cool if they dig it.

I was just trying to stir things up in a light hearted way. Hope no one was offended.

OK, so, John, you like the BeeGees, huh?

Well, I wouldn't say I LIKE the Bee Gees, I'd say I F***ing LOVE the Bee Gees!

Brilliant stuff. I love the disco, the pre-disco, even the last Cd "This is just where I came in" has some cool stuff on it.

When I want to listen to Australians play guitar and sing, I prefer a bit of Midnight Oil...less of that toxic hairspray...

I like most of the 60's BeeGees, especially the bass sound, Jive Talkin' was a pretty cool song too, they kind of lost me after than for the most part.

BTW, Little Richard is known as Ricardito in Peru, haha!

In Brasil, he is "Ricardinho".

It is pronounced: "hee car DEE you"

No, that's not a misprint. Brasilian Portuguese is a strange language in its pronunciations.
