Several years ago I saw the double-bill of David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar. I arrived with an open mind.
Needless to say, Sammy impressed the h_ll out of me, while David seemed to be a pretentious little whiner....

I don't know Roth personally but Van Halen really lost it for me when he quit/got fired or whatever. Hagar was a little too romantic for me, they became another MOR bland rock band after he left and lived on their name IMHO of course. Roth had the swagger, ego and the voice they needed, he fit that band to a T.
Some of the best musicians are the biggest jerks, and that's probably partially why they got where they are.

My objection is to Roth singing 'Tobacco Road'...if he wants to cover 'Just A Gigolo', that's just fine with me. Let him stick with what he knows...
