Douglas I agree with your choice. That chord (G7sus4) is mesmerizing.

When I pick up my 350/6 or my 360/12 that is a chord I use to see if my guitar is still in tune.

Ah........... that Rickenbacker sound. It so distinctive on that song.

Jerry, I know exactly what you're saying.

When I first heard the solo in "Chould" , I remember thinking "what the hell is that?" ...And I answered myself, "I dunno, but I love it!"

Andy - No he doesn't make guitars at all though he's been so busy repairing/restoring guitars that he hasn't made a mandolin or bouzouki either lately. Incidentally, he's the luthier that does all the restoration work for Capsule Music in Toronto. Great guy that does great work.

The bouzouki doesn't look guitar-like at all (though there are a few guitar shaped bouzouki). Do a google search on Donal Lunny or Andy Irvine and you'll see lots. Again, I'll post photos of mine if I can scare up a dig cam.

I mentioned earlier that my first thought for the Ric 12 was HDN, but I see a couple people mentioned "Feel A Whole Lot Better", and that stirred a lot of memories. While me and my guitar buddy were loving the sound of Harrison's Ric, we never had actually SEEN or HEARD one in person. The very first time we did hear it was at a school dance at Gerard High in Phoenix (now long gone -- Gerard, not Phoenix). The band's lead player had a fireglo Ric 12 and they played FAWLB, and it blew us away. Man, the first time you see one up close, it was like kissing your first girlfriend.

We added FAWLB to our set list last spring... great song and really fun to play.

How about the classic rhythm of John Lennon's V-81 on All My Loving. Awesome playing.

Man, on "Tell Me Why" when the guitar goes to (I think) a D7 just before the line "well I'm beggin' down on bended knees, if you'll only listen to my pleas"
That D7 is so electric, metallic sounding.

Jerry, the whole thing rang through my mind as I read your post. That song has some fine and very upfront lead and rhythm playing! It's just the right combination of tight and raucous to capture one's senses.

Some of...ahem...Rongo's finest playing too. The man was deft! TMW and a lot of the Fab's songs from that period really captured a vibrancy. Tight and raucous as you say, and as rock should be.

"All My Loving" - a real wrist killer - especially for a muscularly challenged (weakling) individual, such as myself.
