I had a bass compactor and sold it, I liked the compression, but I kept getting feedback when I used it.

Yesterday, I went out and tried an Ampeg V4BH anniversary with a 610 SVT anniversary cabinet.

I was looking to get that overdriven Tone everyone is saying only Ampeg can give you. I found the amp to be really clean but man it sounded great !!!! So warm !!! Wow ! I could not get the overdriven Tone ala John Wetton per say but I was really impressed with the Ampeg. I know someday I will finally settle with the Ampeg SVT-Classic and a cabinet I know I know...

I use a Boss Distortion, guitar pedal. With proper EQ it works well for bass.

chad, i use a digitech bass synth wah. i also have used the rp50 guitar distortion through an ampeg. i am still looking for that sound that glover had back in the 70`s. what we really is an overdriven 250 watt tube amp through some beatup old fender bottoms!

the bass sythn wah is fun when playing alone but i havent really found a use for it in the band setting same goes for the rp50. its probably just me. i like the saound of pure bass or should i say pure rickenbacker through an ampeg
