See, now we're talkin'...
"...three bassists, a couple of drummers, several banjo players, about a half dozen guitarists, and bunch of guys on tambourines and harmonicas..."

In that Spinal Tap pix, did you notice that both necks of the double-neck are a 4-string bass? Is this just a joke or is there really such a thing? (and if there is my next question will be WHY!)

LOL! I love that song...
HAHAHAH! Funny, Jason.
The other neck might be tuned a full step lower.. or it's a complete joke.. lol.

Even a *single* neck BC Rich is a joke... let alone naming one of their models "Bich"...(how utterly clever of them.) Can you really take a bass with two p-bass pickups seriously..(er..four, in Derek Small's case...)
I think it's safe to say this bass could metaphorically be "none more black".

I don't take any bass with a P pickup seriously. I don't even trust a normal Fender P.
I'd like to see a double neck Rick with two bass necks.. one a 4 or 5 string and the other a fretless... or one an 8 string and the other a 4 string. That's be cool.
It's been a dream of mine to get a band that'll play Big Bottom on stage.. I'd have to let everyone else use my basses though.. hehe.

This four bass players, two drummers, a half dozen madolin players, and twelve guitarist sound like a new country band to me.

Back to the Beatles for a moment. (We can do a whole Spinal Tap thread later) I think that you can see that in their earlier work there was a lot more cohesion between Lennon and NcCartney both as composers and when recording. Why these things happen we never know but I would add two things to the other reasons cited above for the breakup/being each others sideman issue. One I don't think you can underestimate the increadable affect of Beatlemania had on these guys. For the rest of us that may have warped a few egos. Paul wanted to keep that popularity going, John wanted to rebel against it and George wanted something more meaningful. Ringo was just glad to be Ringo. Also in addition to the Yoko issue and in my mind even a greater problem for John was his drug abuse. I'm no prude but heroin doesn't help you get along with anyone and I think near the end that also had an affect on his ability to care or get along with the others

Just to interject one more Spinal Tap moment, I'd like to say that Washburn has an acoustic electric guitar with a volume control that goes up to 12. It's one louder, in't it?

"Paul wanted to keep that popularity going, John wanted to rebel against it and George wanted something more meaningful. Ringo was just glad to be Ringo..."
That is right on the money, Marc...you summed it up better than I think I've ever heard it put.
However, I think it's just as possible that John's inability to care or get along with the others (especially 'Lord Fauntleroy') might have led to the heroin use. It has it's drawbacks, but it's an unparalleled painkiller...

ha... drawbacks indeed.
funny... IMHO, Ringo turned out to be the most level-headed of the group. Having said that, his recent All-Starr performances have been quite pathetic.
