Yeah-
I'll check them out.
Back to the bass in the thread-
It's inlays are like Jon's bass. I'm told it is April or may of 73. I've got some pics...
No sparkles.... boo hoo....
Still cool; hope it doesn't go stupid....

I have to agree with Jeff Rath on this one. As sweet as those old ones are, I'd never pay those kinds of prices for one. I'll take the new ones thank you. Stronger necks and less wear and tear on them.

Yes-
These necks you can break over your knee so don't bid...
Just stick to the stronger ones....
Yeah, that's it....

You know im with Jeff on this one . I had an early 73 exactly like that one .fireglo, All the same features right down to the LINO markers and i was not impressed . The 4003 is a consistently better bass and you dont have to worry about playing out .now if they only made them with thin necks on a consistent basis . sighhhhhhh...........

I like the 4003's as well.I just like the older ones more.
That and I like necks that are (say with a french accent)
Wafer Thin.....
Now bring me another bucket!

My 73 neck is like a club compared to the 60's basses. Both my fretted and fretless versions are heavyish too.
John, I think your bid of $2700 is safe here personally....

Anyone get a serial number on this? I think it might have been mine at one time.

All I got from David at WeBuy was MDxxxx
Wasn't listening to numbers.....
Since that type of inlay was used only during the last
month or so of the large inlay it didn't make much diff to me...

I'm pretty sure that was mine. If it was, I bought it from a guy in Florida offa Ebay. It came to me unplayable, the nut had been shimmed up with a matchstick. I had a new nut made and it played like a dream. The only issue for me was the output on the treble pickup was a bit low.
I sold it on Ebay last year and it was picked up by a NY music store(not WeBuy).. The nice finish and the wear marks are makes me think this was the one. For sure it was an MD.
If it's the same bass, whoever gets it will love it.
