yep ... that is why I am able to easily put a 5th string on them and they hold up fine ... and I didn't know the newer 4004 basses had stronger necks ... I thought the change to bubinga was for looks or sound characteristics ...

So can we get some necks and give them to mythbusters to break ... or better yet blow them up?

aahhh ... just kidding ...

...it does sound like fun to test the breaking point of the wood with a forklift.

I think ken's big paws could do a good job on testing neck strength.

Aside, but I love when he demonstrates the thinness of his ric necks by showing a picture of his paws holding the neck. Those hands could make a baseball bat look thin. hahaha (ducks for cover)

We need a picture of him with his hands around the neck of that 10-string bass that Jeff has on his website . . . the crazy-huge fretboard one . . . that's the TRUE test of hand size . . .

I think I would get physically ill if I had to watch a RIC neck being broken .... on purpose, especally a Cii5. I just hope I dont have nightmares of JH and a forklift. " Here ya go Greg, so ya wanna mod my basses huh" .... " Lets just test that neck for ya " KERSNAP!!! AHRRG...

Hahahah Mythbusters! That show is amazing! If I ever saw A Rickenbacker on the show I'd be both excided and dreading what they're gonna do to it.. maybe put it in another home made cannon or something.

I wouldn't want to watch any RIC neck getting broken, but to test a wood blank... I would work the forklift.

No, I mean that bass with 10 SEPARATE strings in the "Hall of Shame" section. You know, the one with the fretboard a mile wide?

Brings a new meaning to "OK nine wire."

Only Navy pilots will get that.
