"The only V63 in a 'Colour of the Year'..."
I've seen a Turquoise v63 in Japan.

Yes, but Turquoise (the metallic one) was not a "color of the year." The one above is Sea Green, the COY for 2000. Me likey!

Wasn't DG the COY in 2002? They stopped making v63's in 2001 I believe.

Desert Gold was the COY for 2001. I believe the V63 was discontinued with the announcement of the C64 at NAMM 2001. If that's the case, there may not have been any V63's in DG.
The cool thing about the V63 was that it could be ordered in any of the standard finishes. Although most are FG and MG, you do see the very odd example in Jetglo, Turquoise, Midnite Blue or Sea Green.

Just to whip up Geoffrey Harrison's lather a bit more, I submit my family of "unusual" Hofners (yes, I know this is a Rick forum). Sorry, though, Geoff, none of these are for sale. I'll post one in three separate messages. First is one of the limited edition "blueburst" from about 2000 or '01.

Next is a 2003 Deluxe 5000/1. There have been gradual changes to the trim on the Deluxe edition. The binding is now black instead of tortoiseshell. The back is luxurious birdseye. Gold hardware and doubled position markers.

And the jewel of the crown, the one-off Cherry Deluxe made special for the then president of Boosey and Hawkes who "owned" Hofner at the time. This was one of the prototypes for the red and blue limited editions to come. They decided not to go with such a deluxe setup. This one has block mother of pearl position markers, raised logo, gold hadware, including modern Schaller tuners, and superfine birdseye maple front, back, and sides under a clear cherry finish. Don't even look at it!

Nice collection Paul! This site could use a Hofner section as a new addition. I have a feeling there are quite a few RIC owners that have some sort of Hofner next to their RICS
