After playing this 4001cs http://www.3dentourage.com/425/4001cs.htm I can see how a lot of people would want to have the horseshoe and toaster pickups on their 4003 basses ... it would be cool if Ric made the horseshoe pickup available ...

According to Mike Parks' site WHT was not available in 2000. Beautiful bass in any event.

Is that CS going to become a 5 string some day?

I also wonder if my 75 is a refin or not. I see no evidence of a refin, but almost no yellowing makes me suspicious.

I have seen unplayble project Ricks with all the hardware sell for $600 plus. Yes, the finish sucks but you don't play the finish. If the bass is mechanically sound, that is not a bad price.

" The bass is in incredible condition for a 30 year old bass. The only thing wrong with it is the finish which is slightly cracked due to moving from a southern climate to a northern climate"

My bass is 4 years older and by no means a trailer queen, mine is better than this thing.

By the looks of the finish it looks like it went from a southern climate (Sahara) to SIberia. SHort of putting the bass in a freezer I can't think of anything that would crack the finish that bad.

In 2004 I sold my 68 and except for some exposed wood on the back it was really clean ... and I gigged with that bass ... that white one qualifies as a beater ... all of the 70s basses that I owned were in better shape than that one ... and I had an 89 4003s5 similar to that one except it was in a lot better shape and the seller listed it as have a rough finish ... that one looked like it was hauled around in the back of a pickup truck without a case ...

"... that one looked like it was hauled around in the back of a pickup truck without a case"

Jeff, you're saying that like it's a bad thing! Image I don't mind buckle rash, finish checking on old basses, battle scars and honest player's wear. What I don't like is irreversible mods.
