I dunno, I think his Jazz bass sounds very different from his Ric. At least, back then, he wasn't trying to use the Jazz to emulate the Ric, whereas today, he tries to make it sound just like it.

Rotosound strings always sounded the best to me, but, unfortunately, they never last very long. If I don't like the Lo-Riders that I've got on order, I'll try out the Sunbeams and see if those do it. If not, back to Hi-Beams.

Yes IMO the two sounded distinctly different in those days. He has made changes to the sound of the Jazz throughout the years, but currently it's back to sounding more like a Jazz Bass, at least on the R30 video it does....

great sound... whatever he uses.
