I should be receiving the 2060 on Friday, and the V63 early next week. I think I feel a (cough) little congestion coming on (sniff).

My 4004Cii Translucent Green arrived today. The shade of green is perfect but the flaming isn't as intense as I hoped......still very nice but pretty subtle. The setup, if that is what you want to call it, was horrendous out of the box. I don't blame the shop I bought it from since I was concerned with getting it so quickly they weren't left with any time to tweak it for me.

I looked at it for an hour or so trying to talk myself into liking the gold hardware but it just looks too "pimp" for me so I swapped everything I could to chrome......I'm still waiting on chrome screws from Mike Parks to finish it off properly. I'm debating still about what to do with the TRC. Painting the letters isn't a problem and it comes out nice but that would still leave the "Made In USA" in gold so I'm not sure if it may just be better to trade it in with Ric. Hmmmmm.

The pics aren't the best. The flaming gets washed out by the flash and it is hard to tell but the fretboard has an excellent grain pattern that looks like waves down the length....pretty neat.

There are no stickers in any of the cavities which seems odd since all of my more recent Rics have them. Also there is no NAMM reference but from the poor photo evidence it looks like this is likely the same bass. It isn't a big deal either way but I was curious.

Something I found interesting is that the fretboard is un-varnished (actually it almost appears to have light tung oil finish). The clear comes right up to the edge and blends (tapers) onto the board edge. That's a feature that I like very much.

Another greenie comes into the fold, congrats Brian! I happen to like the gold hardware on mine, but that's just me. Now play the **** out of it!

It would be the best way to do it but something really bothers me about paying $25 to trade my mint gold lettered TRC for a silver lettered version. I understand Ric's position on this and why they do it but I don't like it and I think it is a rip. $25 and no exchange I could see (or $50 even) but with an exchange it should be far less.

I think I'll just go with painting the letters and carefully removing the "Made In USA" portion which isn't raised so repainting neatly would be impossible (for me).

Looks cool Brian. Fretboard wood appears nicely figured.

I think if you get one more Rick to your door by the end of the month, it comes with some dancing girls.

Enjoy!

Not sure if the trans color would look as good on a 4003 as it does on the 4004cii.

I think the grain of the Walnut Top of the 4004 looks terrific in trans colors but not sure how they would look on solid Maple bodies of the 4003.

Santiago - Welcome to the forum! The 4004cii actually has maple top and sides with a walnut core.
Brian - that trans green 4004cii looks fantastic! (But then again, I'm a sucker for green guitars). When the 4004cii/5 is reintroduced, I'd definitely like one in trans green.

Welcome Santiago! Actually the latest version of the 4004Cii has a maple/walnut/maple sandwiched body; you can see the walnut all around the perimeter of the body.

It sounds great with Monterey Jack cheese and Dijon mustard on it! Image
