Jeffery, If I didn't "keep my day job," I'd never be able to afford another Ric!! Just having innocent fun with my (our) most prominent obsession. That's all!

I really do like the "Apple Corp. Green." It sure beats, *ahem*, red with black trim! (Just having fun Mr. Hall! You said we weren't any fun - it's our duty to prove that wrong!)

Actually, the red/black trim, to me, is striking, but I'd better appreciate it 20 years ago. If I had the money to support a collection hobby, I wouldn't balk at owning one!

Hey Mortivan-- I hear ya on that keeping the day job thing! The same applies to me as much as anyone else here. And no offense intended. The truth is I also disagree with Mr. Hall's like for the red with black trim. The black trim option seems to be well liked by several of the other forum members, but I never cared for it at all. However, I wouldn't begrudge anyone's preference in a guitar finish. All of us like whatever we like.

But it's what I do for my dayjob!

I work as a graphic designer for a small company, laying out ads, designing/maintaining websites, working on DVD production, etc. Changing the color of hair, a guitar, anything is a common task that's learned when you work in my field.

Though I've always wondered how a guitar manufacturer such as Rickenbacker makes the color choices in their production line, and how they propose new colors. A few of the limited colors, like the blue boy and sea green, seem very Fender inspired.

And though I do intend to keep my day job (I love my job, actually), Mr. Hall, I was wondering if you have graphic artists who help put these concept colors onto paper for you or anyone else that makes the decision regarding color choices. Seems likely.

Here's to hoping that the 2004 limited color will be a shade of purple (green's my second favorite color).

I too would like to know what happend to the BLACK TRIM option..I thought the black binding was the best looking there was. It really has a nice contrast with mapleglo and looks killer on jetglo...Mr. Hall, I agree with the you on the Glenn Frey model,Black and silver is a nice combo. That is another color combo I would like to see on a 4003...please bring back the black trim option

I think it's alright that the Greenglo/Apple Corp Green finish hasn't gained too much desirabilty among our friends here yet There are a few of us stating interest in that finish already and that's quite encouraging. It may take some time before one sees the light of day and I'm not in a hurry as long as our RIC loving brothers here are having a good time pouring in great, innovative ideas. The process of brainstorming is where the fun is.

Maybe I'll just get a beat-up 4001/4003 Mapleglo for a "nice price" and have her professionally refinished to the exact color details in my mind's eye. The only task is to find an excellent luthier/refinisher who can perform an equally amazing job as those gentlemen working in the RIC finishing booths. Hmm...a Greenglo and an Oceanglo would be nice...At least they would be unique and nobody else would have an identical one.

And of course I goota keep my day job to fund for this dream to come true.

And let's not leave out John Cyg and Steve Wood who expressed considerable admiration for the Greenglo finish.
That would make 6, I suppose.

Count me in...Greenglo with a gold pickguard/nameplate & oven knobs. On a 4003 or a 330/12 I am not picky

Whatever happened to the black trim anyway? I really, really like all of the black 'n' blue rick's I've seen. . .

The thing about the BT option-without inventing an entirely new finish, it doubled the number of "looks" on any potential rick.
The red/black combo seems just a tad garish to me. . . but burgundyglo or ruby with black. . . MMMM MMMM good!

I agree with John Hall ... the Red basses with black trim are very cool .... I wish one of my 4003s5's was red with black trim ...

The same can be said about a gold pickguard/scratchpate & trussrod cover. It adds another option and goes with just about every finish.
