Discontinue the 4003's??? I highly doubt it... The 4004 is too different (looks, and sound) to fill the gap.

So Rickenbacker guitar sales will have to be by word of mouth, rather than one having the pleasure of sitting in a store and trying out various guitars, for the time being? What a shame. There are so many (R) models I've only seen in photos and not tried (most of them, actually). I can't, therefore, make an informed decision. And I've never seen a Rickenbacker accoustic anywhere. Had to buy a big buck G****n. Do you think guitar Center or anyone else would order one just for me to consider, when they're brimming with marque brands their sales pressure people are told to move? Heck, Rickenbacker people, work overtime! Get a lot of product in the stores! (but keep the quality up) Thank you for allowing me to spout.

Unfortunately (for us, not RIC), there will always be a huge list of orders to fill for _all_ models. For example, those who have a few thousand $ to drop for a deposit will receive their acoustic 2 to 3 years later. Believe it or not, the demand is at this level.

We'd all love to see RIC flood the market with every model possible (except the 4001C64* - sorry, personal feelings crept in here!), but that's not going to happen.

Pardon my elementary Economics, but I must use the course for something, eh?!

The level of orders (demand) dictates the level of deliveries (supply). If the deliveries (supply) were to exceed the pending orders (demand), something would give. This "something" would surely be the price charged (and eventually the quality, then the demand, then the quality again, etc..., but that's the next chapter.)

RIC is producing on a schedule that fulfills pending orders, yet still maximizes "economic profit."

In other words, if you want a new RIC Acoustic, prepare to wait a few years!

There's nothing wrong or "immoral" with this model. RIC produces what we want, at the level of quality we demand, and we purchase and consume it. If any factor changes, someone will suffer.

I meant no impertinence. Rickenbacker is surely in an enviable buisness position!

For those of you that own a Cii.
How do you play - with a pick or your fingers? I have grown very accustom to resting my hand on the horseshoe of my V63 using a pick. How big of an adjustment will this be?

Glad you like the pics, one thing I must add though, I have tried at great lengths to get an accurate photo of the 4004 but cant. It has a top and back that is every bit as beautiful as any PRS , Alembic , Pedulla ect.....Incredible figured maple. Also the picture turns out sort of 'orangey'. Its really more of a ruby or garnet red in color. Hang in there people , this is an exeptional instrument proudly made in the USA that is well worth the wait. In a world that is to eager to sell out for quantity instead of QUALITY I am proud to own and play my Ricks. Also to Andy , I primarily play with a pick and think that the 4004 is great for both styles but lends itself to pick style playing. Just my opinion though.

How does the 4004Cii compare in tone to a '70's 4001?? Are they bright??
