I ordered a left-handed 730L in 2002. My down payment was returned in 2004.

Question.... How much would a NOS 700c go for now? Say on Ebay...

I paid $2500.00.

POTR or Mike Parks I bet would charge $2700.00 to $2900.00.

Ebay,,, who knows.

I think that Mike has one for sale now.

Have you ever noticed that the 80s acoustics look a little different than the current ones? The late 80s jumbos were a little fatter in appearance. Also the fretboard goes all the way to the soundhole on current ones unlike the 80s versions.

JH has posted that he could use the acoustic space for more electric production. Dave, I'd just keep those acoustics. :-)

Graham - incredible! I think that's the nicest Rick acoustic i've seen thus far.

Ugh. This thread is giving me a pit in my stomach. I've had a 700C/12 FG on order for years now. If they cancel the order, I don't know what I'll "replace" it with. There aren't many 12 string acoustics out there, and none of them are as desirable as the Ric acoustic 12 (at least not at the same price point). Still, it would be good to know which way Ric was going to go with these guitars so that we could free up our deposits. Hard choices, indeed.

Nothing can match a Rick acoustic 12.

Needing one sooner rather than later, and having been somewhat sparked by the conversation that I had with John Hall on this very topic on April 15th when we visited together here in SF, I entered an order for a Washburn Cumberland Jumbo 12-string acoustic. To this I will fit an LBaggs pickup system, which John recommended (it's the same one Rick uses on their acoustics.)

The Washburn has been garnering rave reviews for its tone and projection. It is made offshore (read: China), but its fit and finish, tone and projection, are right up there with the top US brands.

I'll be looking for a pair of Ricks ( a six and a twelve) to purchase or trade for, but meanwhile this twelve and my beautiful matching spruce/maple 1985 Ibanez jumbo (which I've owned since new) will have to fill in the melodies...

I think you'll be well pleased with the Cumberland 12, Paul, if my experience is anything to go by - I have a 6-string J12SNA (lower trim level than the J28SDL - laminated rosewood back and sides rather than maple), and it's an absolute honey. I have a Baggs M-1 soundhole pickup in it, and string it with Elixir Nanoweb PBs. It sounds fabulous strummed or fingerpicked, and plays beautifully.
