Man...how'd we get from that guy to Katie Couric in thirty short years? That's 'progress', I suppose...

'Starteeen' tomorrow night, "That's the way it is" will be replaced by "Good Eeevneeeen..."

RIC's last website Recent News was from 2/3/06. So no Anniversary news there...

I think what he means is that there *is* news, we just can't know about it yet for some reason.

Yeah, I realized that, but working in broadcast, news teases get really old... ;)

Thanks John for the reply.

I can't believe that RIC wouldn't do something special for its 75th anniversary, and I being partial, especially a bass.

Oh well, I feel like I just found out there isn't a Santa Claus...

Ah, but look, a bright spot in my rainy day! An Autumnglo! John, I'll give you first crack. If not, just let me know. It will be "SELL THE BASS YOU DON'T USE" TIME! Only, it will be at least THREE!

This is probably going to go way too high for me at present, but we'll see, you never know! There goes my anniversary bass $$$$$ ! I was hoping to have some time to sell some stuff, oh well. I'm a dead man....

Tony, there is still almost 10 days; I figured I'd wait and see where it is closer to the end. I also have zero feedback and no Paypal account. Never bought nor sold anything on the 'bay.

Wow, it's over $1100.00 already....with 9 days still to go...

While I'd love to see AutumnGlo as a COY for 2007, it is probably too close to the MONTY Brown for them to even consider it.

I'd assume RIC has some kind of market research that goes into their decisions as COY, options, etc.

Until I found this site last year, I honestly didn't know the difference between a 4001 from a 4003 other than the skunk stripe.

Furthermore, I never realized that the 4002 or 4005 even existed! I guess as far as the general RIC public goes, many of the things we've come to appreciate as being enlightened RIC forumites, might just go un-noticed to the general RIC player IMHO.

It's been said here on the forum and I fully agree, it appears that Paul and/or Dale is our only chance for getting that DREAM Ric realized.

Ok, I'll be optimistic, the 100th anniversary....nevermind, I'll probably only be be a memory by then!

Tony, yup, 12 bids and $1156.69! It will probably go for a really crazy price. I took Steve up on his offer but set a limit, and that is approaching... Sigh.

Until I found this site and the RIC forums, I never knew there was a 4002. I have learned sooo much in just the short time I've been here. So much about the ins, outs, idiosyncrocies, the desirable features and years, and the ones with voracous appetites when it comes to collecting!! :D

With prices soaring so insanely (too many boomers with stupid money!!) Paul and Dale will indeed have a steady stream of business.

I plan on being around for the 100th anniversary. I just hope my fingers and brain are nimble enough to still be rockin'! I'd be 79 - that's still a youngun!

As far as RIC's COY's go, I once asked John Hall how they came to choose Sea Green (my personal obsession) for the 2000 COY. His response:
"Some of the guys in the finish department mixed this up and it looked sorta cool, so we ran with it. Not a huge decision."
Nice to see not every business decision is driven by marketing reports and focus groups!

John,

Sorry to say, I figured on $1500.00-1700.00. I remember seeing a beauty on Gbase about 6 month ago for $1700.00 and I said, NUTS! Way too high. Well, it's GONE now and it was MINT!

I think I'll probably go the Paul/Dale route when I get all my parts squirreled away.

Steve: That's wild. Not a huge decision? So much for that notion. I'm afraid to ask were the motivation for MONTY BROWN came from! Image
