Our guitar guy at Tampa Howl at the Moon (groan, I know) uses a Line 6 Variax and it is perfect for that situation for several reasons...
1) You can get any type of guitar tone out of one guitar
2)It's pretty cheap so it's okay when beer/whipped cream/silly string gets spilled/flung/shot on it
3) On a very cramped stage like we had you won't mind a few dings and nicks so you can be more comfortable.

You can bet he doesn't use it in the studio, however!

BTW I have two of those four-button stomp box modeler things, the green delay one and the purple filter one and have been happy with them. I can understand they're not for everyone though.

I agree with Steve, if it gets the sound you want, then great.
Everyone raves about the quality and the flexibility of 'digital' gear. Then when they get the sound they want, they set about 'warming' it up to get a valve like sound....
I give in.... LOL!!!

I agree, all soda is ****... Just picture it like this.... Fender is to Pepsi, Squire is to Snapple, Tokai is to a glass of water with sweetening and food coloring...

Squire? You mean Chris Squire? Or do you mean Squier?

Probably the latter... I forgot how it's spelled...

I like Fenders too, one of my nicest electric guitars is a Strat, and Gibsons (my finest 12 string acoustic is a Gibson), and Martins, and...

Rickenbacker isn't like food at all.....its like a Mercedes-Benz. Top-notch quality through and through.
