I'm really hoping for a v68. I've got my fingers crossed.

Man, I just can't get into those colored strings. I guess I'm just old school.

I agree. Thankfully, they went as soon as I got it. TIs now.

It ain't a new model, I'll give up that much. I think you may very well be underwhelmed, but hey, I think a lot of people will be happy.

We might as well release the info but I'll check with the boss first and we'll probably do it on our site first.

It's a VTRS (Vintage Truss Rod) switch option. In the "up" position you have modern compression rods; flip it down and you have the old folded expansion rods, complete with period-correct bent hexagonal nuts.

OK, my serious guesses are:

1. C64-type pickguards on 4003's;
2. Return of the full width inlays;
3. Thinner neck profile;
4. New design bridge.

I think you could well be in the ballpark with those ides Ilan.

In my dreams it will be a 4005, but I know that will never happen...

New bridge design.

The Horseshoe reappears as an option.

Would be nice to see the checker binding and the skunkstripe return too.

They're setting us up. They've decided to bring back every quirk of the 4000 series over the years from pickguards to bindings, colors, pickup arrangements, etc... and they've set up an interactive, hi-res design your own bass tool at the website. Besides keeping us busy for days on end and likely ruining a marriage or 2 ("Why won't you just come cuddle?", she'll ask)- we'll then be able to order the finished product of our own design and she'll be at your door in 5-7 business days.

And then I'll grow a tail, and join the circus. Image

my guess is the horseshoe pickup will become available and you will be able to order a 4003 with the vintage pickup option which will give you a horseshoe and a toaster ...

then you are another step closer to the v68 ...

next is checkered binding and full width inlays ... I think there is a shortage of the checkered binding material so we may not see that ... and the full width inlays weaken the neck so we may not see that either ...

they could do an "S" model ...

Now where are the dots on a 4003FL? If Jeff's right...

"and the full width inlays weaken the neck so we may not see that either ..."

Is that a fact? There are new Rics that have FW inlays, like the 360/12C63 and 381v69.
