Speaking of clandestine photos taken at RIC, my wife who WAS sneaking around taking pictures in out of the way spots, photographed something that leads me to think that RIC is considering producing a 28 1/2" scale baritone guitar modeled on a 381.

about 1978 I went into the guitar center in San Francisco and tried to trade my 1968 4001 straight up for a 4002 ... they offered me a kramer bass ... I declined and left ...

Guitar Center - Weasels. I should know, I used to work there. They always try to GROSSLY undercut the seller on buy-ins & trade-ins. A KRAMER... what a fcking joke; really. That just deserves a nice, big **** on their carpet.

There was a third 4002 in Nova Scotia . One sold at a local vintage shop a year or so ago.. It was mapleglo and wound up being sold to someone in the States.

Some questions if I may....

Would a 4003 with HB's installed sound close to a 4002?

Other than the pick up placement, and the exotic wood of course, aren't they basically a 4003?

Lastly, are these the same pickups used in the 4004 models?

The pickups on the 4002 are so far back in relation to a 4003 that the sound would probably be completely different than a 4003 with HB1's. I have that pickup arrangement on my 3000 doubleneck and it sounds like no other Rick that I know of. The 4002 pickups are not the same as HB1's although they do look the same.
