Thanks Walker and John. Your all's efforts are really appreciated. It still bugs me that someone would rip off something from work; and somehow after collecting dust in a box somewhere it would be OK to sell it as their own. I mean we are not talking an occasional pen or pencil that accidentally makes it into someone's brief case or pocket - this is product! 'geee, now how did that pup get in my pocket -- I think I'll sell it?' Really a shame noting else can be done. Rant over... sorry.

It's not only product, but prototypes. That's more like industrial espionage than theft.
Well, for one thing, it definitely proves what sort of character (or lack of it) 'Doc" has.
No worries over possibly jumping the gun & blaming him for circumstances beyond his control.
Verdict: GUILTY!

This thread sounds like a discussion that would happen in the "Star Chamber."

Definite IP (Intellectual Property) potential here. R&D $$ spent and sometimes that stuff sits for years before being used or re-examined for use. I'm not grabbing nail and a hammer here but it just irks me that they have such blatant disregard for others property.

I liked that movie…..

It would've been cool to have some insight into the sound & design of that 8 pole pup.
That really sucks, Dave.
But if RIC didn't feel the need to produce it, perhaps it isn't particularly different in mag field or tone than a standard higain.

Dale,

I wrote to John about the truss cover, and asked about using it for a custom guitar strap that I had wanted to have made. I wanted to be sure that it was ok to use the Rickenbacker nameplate !!

At that point the history of the item was explained and also the fact that it was very strongly suspected that the part in question had "walked" out of the factory years ago.

I offered to return the Cover, which John declined. The offer is still open.

Guitar strap with a metal TRC logo - now THAT'S cool! I hope you proceed with that project as you had envisioned.

Well the long awaited badge arrived today, bought on the 5th, paid for on the 5th, and posted on the 12th.

I was charged $7 postage and insurance and the package was sent First Class without insurance for 63c.

Won't be buying from again.

Jim, make sure you mention those points when leaving feedback. What an ***...I hate this guy just from what I've read here.

Blast him in EBay seller review.... This type of behavior gives us other humans a bad rap...

Jim, there may be somewhere on eBay to report excess shipping/handling, as (supposedly) eBay is trying to crack down on that practice.

Thanks John,
The offer to return the wayward Badge is still good, you wouldn't happen to have another like it ?

I'm having a pair of leather straps custom made, one on black, and the other to match the 75th 4003.
