Remembering George.....
Re the Clapton quote i mentioned on pg 3 of this thread, the magazine hardcopy is long gone, and I can't find anything net-wise on it. I don't recall any other particulars, but it struck me at the time that coming from Clapton, it was very kind remark. It was at/near the time of their abortive tour together, which didn't last very long , as I remember. Sorry can't give you guys anymore on it.

If you can come up with a month and year, I might have it--I have some old Musician magazines around. As for slide playing, I think I recall EC saying in an interview that he learned what he knew from Duane Allman in the Derek and the Dominos era. Their "Mean Old World" duet from the Crossroads box set is awesome.
Never mind--my issues seem to be later than I thought--from the 90's.

George was a penny pincher, but that "pennies" line has Lennon written all over, and Lennon wrote a good deal of the lyrics for that tune, many like that and which are a quantum leap ahead of anything else, lyrically, George was turning in during the Revolver era. In fact, that line is a quantum leap over the lyrics he wrote in any of his White Album songs.
This is off the record

I just wanted to briefly resurrect this thread to repeat a previous question. Back on Dec. 1 in this thread, Peter asked if anyone had ever done a detailed examination of George's slide technique. Someone else responded about a Clapton mid-80s interview in a guitar magazine.
To just give the question one more chance, has anyone ever seen anything, which would be available now in print or the web, that has analyzed his slide style? I've done the usual Google such and come up with some hits, but they all seem to be along the lines of "Wikipedia" style entries with nothing more than a passing sentence to the effect of "...George's elegant slide technique."
