It was when John was still in retirement (his house-husband years) that he and Yoko heard the B-52's, and this prompted him to get back out recording again.

All you who have been in a band ... How long do you think you would have been able to stand it if your best friend's chick came in and he let her do what Yoko did? I think it's remarkable that the band didn't break up in '68.

Wouldn't last long I can tell you that... though I'd be forcing feedback out of the Casino for fun anyhow, trying to cover up those mouth noises.

We lack perspective here. All of these later sessions had long periods of just messing around with bleary eyes. That's captured on tape here, and why not let Yoko make insane noises at this point?
I would also add that when John first brought Yoko in and broke the taboo, he knew exactly what he was doing and what it signified. He was tired of Beatles and didn't give a rip what any of the others decided to do about it.
I don't mind. They gave us plenty to listen to, and stayed together longer than they wanted to.

Actually, there is one good Yoko Ono LP. It's the Yoko Ono/Plastic Ono Band Apple LP, co-released with the John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band LP.
It's the same sessions and musicians (John, Ringo, Klaus Voorman) as John's LP. The LP jacket is identical except the front has the two in reversed positions and the back has a childhood photo of you know who. I ran across a copy at a record shop many years ago and still have it (I think). It's a lot of jamming with John and the band with a tolerable amount of Yoko thrown in. I think a CD version was released in a collection at one time. Very Avant Garde.
Ironically, John was quoted as having said that "Avant Garde" was French for ********...
