Looks too good to be a refin, but what else could it be? Image That is definitely an early 1972 model 4001! I own a few myself from that year. What was the original color? And if you say that's an original-finish early 1972 AzureGlo, then I am severely jealous that I did not find and beat you to that auction Image Image It is gorgeous....

John, you are probably thinking of Mark's 73 AZ. It is not the same bass. Darren's is a 72 Image

That sure is a nice looking 4001. AZ is a beautiful finish. And of course you gotta love checker binding.

Very nice, sure looks original to me. Mine is a transitional 73 model. AZ's sure are very rare and mine is a great player. I played along to some Spock's Beard(Snow) yesterday and it sounded great.
