Melissa, I actually try to take each one out every now and then for 'exercise'. Right now, I am jamming with a couple of groups of players with the 450v63 JG or the 460 BG with the 660/12TP FG, so these are seeing the most activity right now (I did take the 4080 JG out a couple of weeks ago). When I use a bass for home recording purposes, it's usually the 1975 4001S WHT - I can't put my finger on exactly why I like it better than the others, but I really love it.

EXCELLENT Bass, Gary!!! Yep, Customs did quite a job on my forehead removing the sticker! (I'm certainly glad I didn't SIT on the sticker!) he he he...treat that bass kindly, sir! She's a beauty! BTW...has the white changed to a light creme color or has my eyesight deterriorated to point of almost no return in sight?

Based on the opinions of most of the formites, I took the sticker off one of my Rics. It actually felt good, like a relief. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Yes that is one beautiful bass Gary. I too love white/white especially with the S models which I like anyway (I've never seen an S white/white before), that is one of the nicest looking Rics I've seen. Maurice Gibbs early 70's white/white 4001 which ran early this year in BassPlayer rag, er, I mean magazine was another real nice looking Ric.

Al, the 'white' is actually a slightly yellowish white, compared to my late-model 4003 WHT/WT, at least; this has been discussed previously:

Why have a "Made in USA" sticker on a Rickenbacker in the first place? They are ALL made in the USA, so the sticker is redundant.

Removing the sticker is one of the first things I did on my 650D, before the sticky stuff could turn hard and make cleanup harder.

Possibly redundant, but last I looked, the nameplates on the C series Don't say "Made In USA" on them...

True, all Rickenbackers are made in USA, but the sticker makes them stand out in sharp contrast all the other products not made in USA. That's assuming you can find one in a store, which is sometimes difficult because they go quickly, which is in part because they are made in USA.

I agree that it is important to remind potential buyers (and sellers) that Ricks are made in the US and not assembled in some lower wage country... mainly because companies like F****R turned the issue into an issue by creating distinct breeds of their "guitars" based on country of origin.. US made being the supposed best of that brand. So, I think RIC should not overestimate the intelligence of the consumer.. and certainly not rely on the whip-smart sales people to communicate anything to a new-comer to the music world. For the most part though, I think, if someones walks out with a Rick, chances are high that they went in knowing about and wanting one.. in which case the simple sticker may rightly make them feel better and maybe a bit more proud of their INVESTMENT. How many of you, like me, feel there is something important about the Wonka-like gold sticker on the paperwork? It would probably mean a little less if these guitars were whittled by children in some destitute village.

I pulled mine off after reading these posts. It was starting to look a little worse for wear after a couple of years.

It made it look brand new again! I like!

Ok...I pulled mine off over the weekend. I tried to stick it on the inside and it fell into the cavity. While down there, it will likely collect dust, turn into a fuzz ball, and cause my guitar to not work. Thanks!

I do think the guitar looks a little better without it!
