D'oh! Looks like I have to sell a kidney to complete the left handed set. Thanks for reminding me that being right handed is a curse in this matter, Ron.

I've never liked the way Macca painted his bass. But that Brian's bass looks first rate. Paul W. did an amazing job!!!! That's as close as you can get to that look IMHO. Great looking basses there Brian.
Re: Any chance for a MMT Painted 4001 in the future?
Thanks, Randy. I am truly enjoying it.

If you ever gig with that bass Brian. I'd love to see the amazed looks you would get!!!

No gigging, but I am recording with it.rickfan63 wrote:If you ever gig with that bass Brian. I'd love to see the amazed looks you would get!!!

Sorry I can't leave this thread alone, but I absolutely love this bass. It took almost 3 years to complete but I've waited 20 to get the right bass and find the right person to do the work. I truly appreciate your work, Paul. I think I love staring at it from every possible angle more than playing it.

Oh, go right ahead and gloat, Brian. That's what we're here for
yer bass is worth another run up the board.
All I wanna do is rock!

I'm here, too. Glad you're happy with it. It was a fun project.

Does it *SOUND* different than your other 4001C64? What kind of strings do both basses wear?
Have you tried playing "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" on the MMT C64 with the bridge pickup?

Don't forget all those double stops!JakeK wrote:Have you tried playing "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" on the MMT C64 with the bridge pickup?

Oh, and feel free to post more pictures of it while you're at it!!!
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: Any chance for a MMT Painted 4001 in the future?
The strings on the other C64 and C64S are stock Rickenbacker Strings. The MMT feels the same to me although I thought Paul was putting flats on it. They all sound the same to me right now. I haven't played around with fuzz or any effects yet. I will try While My Guitar Gently Weeps with the bridge pickup and see how it sounds. To be honest, that wasn't one of the first songs to pop into my head. I have actually been playing more original material than anything.JakeK wrote:Does it *SOUND* different than your other 4001C64? WMGGW is Fender Jazz Bass.
I have a 4001S that I did a pseudo-MMT paintjob on about 10 years ago, came out good IMO.
