Wow, I've never seen so many overhead shots of their stage setup as I have just recently on this forum! Thanks, everybody. The shot from '66 on another thread showed Paul's Rickenbacker at the ready as a backup, but the shot that Kent posted from what, late 64 or early 65? shows that both George and John have backup guitars ready, but it looks like Paul's just got his Hofner, without a backup. It's interesting that they might have toured with only one bass guitar. I can't imagine a huge touring band touring like that today without backup instruments. But then I can't imagine playing to 55,000 people without monitors... Heck, I can't imagine playing for 55,000 people!

Also, the backup instruments are just lying there - no stands.

I've seen backstage pictures of the Beatle guitars that show 2 Hofners, but you're right that the backup bass doesn't seem to be there (although could easily be there but not visible).

Neat... what drum set is that?

Note the "If I Needed Someone" capo on George's new-style 360, and the rare view of his pick which is the smaller rounded top style (which I like better than the more triangular shape).

The drum set is Ringo's first, the Premier, which I took a cell-phone picture of at the Hard Rock Cafe, New York City.

George's pick looks like the small, rounded 'jazz' style from that angle, but actually the Beatles used these:

Sorry, I should have explained further! They're reproductions from the WITH site in Japan. If you zoom in on George's pick its actually one of these. I've also seen them on pictures of John's 325 that I can't find right now.
