Hey there, brothers and sisters...I'm back in Denver, wrestling with upper respiratory distress brought on by altitude, pollution and getting reacquainted with my two cats. No recurrence of the 'shingles' so far, but I have some lovely facial scars for souveniers of the occasion, including a very distinctly visible one at the location of my 'third eye'...I'm now an honorary Hindu! I'll never have to pay for roast pig or cigarettes in Bali again...
It was good to spend the time with my family out in Ca., even if the reason for being there was tough...my siblings and I had to make the decision and follow through with closing my Mom's apartment and moving her into an Alzheimer's facility. There ain't no justice...
But let's not be defeated by adversity...I'll be going out to see her as often as I can in the time that remains, and I might be able to swing a visit to the Ric factory sometime, since my brother lives right up the road in Tustin.
And now a complete non-sequitor (so unlike my posts!) fo' ya...a guy I know (retired bigwig in the National Science Foundation's Department of Polar Programs) just sent me this photo of your's truly with snare drum in the marching band at the 1981 'Penguin Bowl' (note the Marine 'dress blue' jacket):
(Man, I couldn't do that kind of silly sh*t now on a bet...)
