Its about a 1mm gap.
With the bass having a solid paint job it might even be easier to fill the gap.
If it is sanded level there wouldnt be much difference in the bridge height on the G string side which is the side that would be lower.
I will be discussing it with Bob soon and he will have the best solution I am sure.

Some more photos of the necks on both CSs and a V63 for comparison.
I havent cleaned the CSs properly yet since last nights gig so they might look a bit smudged around the fret board..

Pete, just out of interest, who is Bob Barry? Is he going to refin in conversion varnish? Just wondering because one day I may need my CS redoing (as original), and if I can't get it over to one of our USA specialists I'd like to know where best to take it.

Bob has done quite a few re-fins over the years.
I havent gone into the fine detail yet but i will be talking it over in the next few days.
I would imagine he could re-do the CS as its original "Devon Clotted Cream" colour.

On the subject,I seem to recall Chris saying one time that the yellow colour that (Sam Lee I think) the guitar repairer re-finished his RM in wasnt exactly what he expected.
Perhaps he meant a Fender style blonde finish and ended up with this one off yellow instead.
Then again....is white JUST white?

Mine looks very different in certain lights. Sometimes it looks very pale and luminous (my nickname for it is The Ghost ) and sometimes it looks like custard. The one thing that is consistent is the paint discolours /falls off if you so much as look at it. A slight exaggeration but you know what I mean.

I know exactly what you mean!
When I got the first CS back in 1991 my daughter Ellie said it looked like a slab of cheese!
Or at least I think she meant the bass!
I was telling the guys in the band about the paint job and how the CS is one of the (no disrespect to Rickenbacker) worst colours on any bass I have had when it comes to discolouration from contact with clothes,stands sweat...you name it.

I still love that creamy coloured finish, whatever you want to call it!

That's how my FG '92 V63 is.
What a shame, because the shading is perfect, IMO.
