Alan, that is gorgeous. Is that one of the 1987 "reissue" 6 string 1993's? I've never seen that configuration, with the accent etc, from the factory. absolutely perfect.
Cheers,

My 4003s/5. Kinda hard to see in this photo, but the marbling in the maple is stunning!

Thanks, Collin. I'll have to double-check the date, but since it's in a black Rick case, it's probably right around that time. I'm not sure of the designation on this one, so I call it a 1997SPC, but it is just like a six-string version of a 1993, except for the tail piece, of course. I really don't know much about it, or how many like this may exist.

Well...the easiest way to check would be see if the 2nd digit in the serial number is an "O",(likely a "DO" serial number, then compare it with the six string versions shown here:

If it has a black case, I'm fairly certain it would be one of the '87 1993 6 string reissues, which are rarer than you can imagine (only 6 made). I would think the Accent vibrato was added later, are you the original owner?
Nice one!
Cheers,

Collin, thanks so much for the info. When I checked the jack plate, it turns out this one is D0 9209. That means it's part of the Sam Ash "Jimmie D" batch, and only 5 numbers away from the one on Bob's page at Bjorn's site at the link above. I even loosened the strings and removed the Ac'cent vibrato from the bottom of the guitar, but there were no holes from a previously mounted "R" tail piece. I have to say this vibrato is stock.
BTW, I'm not the original owner, but probably the last.

Another from the wonderful collection of Woodie, not to mention one of my favorite Rickenbackers ever (Did I mention the Jeff Tweedy connection?):
Woodie, pretty please with sugar on top?

JB, you have first dibs. If you zoom in on the pic above, you may see the bottom guard was cracked around the selector switch. I had PG make a set in white and one in gold. For some reason, I like the white better with this MG. Also, the guitar case (silver) has a "Wilco" badge on the handle, but I can't verify that Jeff Tweedy ever played this one..

Original '69 381 at Olivia's:
An example of amazing wood grain accented by a great finish.
Were there any AFG 381 reissues built?
