How true! I've learned my lesson and believe me, from now on Neil Sedaka is an elderly gentleman of moderate heft and historical significance...
Wow! Now that's what I call diplomatic!

I am confused why it was deleted? Someone posted a link to another web site that contained language that Peter found inappropriate? Then why not edit or delete the post itself? The discussion seemed fine last I read it.

I don't know if the comment in question was serious or in jest, but I felt sad and embarrassed when I read it.

I'll answer that if you tell me why we park on driveways and drive on parkways.

(and in keeping with the theme of this forum, I've never driven or parked my Rics on a driveway or parkway)

Ahh...but it's not called a thumb rest, Kira. It would be called that if it were mounted above the strings. When a "thumb rest" is mounted below the strings, it mysteriously transforms itself into something called a "tug bar". So named because your fingers tug at it (for support) while you pluck the strings with your thumb. A fairly common term in Fender circles, where tug bars abound on 50's and early 60's vintage P-Basses.
