I actually think this thread has merit, even if it seems a bit boring. There are numerous people, myself included, who have wondered if one would catch flak for mentioning other brands or criticizing RIC (not that it would stop me, if I have something to say, I'll generally say it). I think what has really come out of this thread is a better understanding of what is acceptable on the forum and what is not. And I think that understanding applies to all parties, users and administrators alike.

Open discussion, comparison and criticism is essential to understanding and learning, which is really why we are all here (on the forum and even, in this universe). It is also essential to remain civil in these discussions, otherwise the discussion degenerates into name calling or worse and nothing gets accomplished.

Actually, I think that posts that complain about threads being boring are boring.

I don't think there are any boring threads, just some that don't interest me or another from time to time.

I always thought people did the F**der thing as tongue-in-cheek, like admitting to another guy you listen to C**lin* D**ne. Not that I know anyone like that.

This thread has devolved into having two different arguments at the same time. The first is the issue of the asterisks and the second is whether or not this forum is tolerant of dissent from the RIC party line. I have no opinion on the first issue, the asterisks don't bother me one way or the other. As for the second issue, there are numerous examples of dissent and differing opinions offered here. There is even a forum, Quest for Tone, expressly for the disscussion of other guitar manufacturers.

I've never seen a thread pulled simply for differing opinions and Ive never seen anyone attacked on a personal level for speaking ill of RIC.

On a lighter note, the correct answer to the question: What's a Gibson? Is, the one with the snapped off headstock.

I'm SO out of it.....Being the Mrs. is an avid Ebayer, I just ASSUMED using the Fend*r example, was to prevent "key word spamming".
