I love my purple sparkle Danelectro 12. Comfy neck, and sounds great.

Trust me the 12 string version is awesome, although not a Ric it IS a strong second.

Thomas...I assume that is yours?
I'd love to know more about it. The Rondo dude may have some leftie 12's in the pipe.
I'm in love with my little 300 dollar 6 string version.

Yes it is mine, I got it a few weeks ago, it was a custom order. I really like this guitar, it plays and sounds really great. (Kurt at Rondo does get leftys from time to time.) I know its not a Ric but for the money I can't believe how well this guitar is made. Maybe I just got lucky. The way I understand it (and correct me if I'm misguided) The Ric 12 string has the big string on top and the octave underneath, which gives it its signature sound. The Agile 3/12 has the octave on top and the big string underneath. Here are a couple of sound samples of my 3/12. I haven't had the time to sit down and get used to fingering the double strings but It will give you a idea of how she sounds.

Don't laugh yourself out of your seat but when I was getting back into electrics I had a Dean Boca for a while. It had a smooth unfinished maple 45 mm wide neck and was small like the 660/12. For around $300 it was OK but needed upgraded pickups pretty bad as they were muddy without any punch. It was also super headstock heavy. The neck was easy to play though and the flamed sunburst was a looker. This model was a bolt on neck. For around $800 Dean made a set neck version called the Saratoga. I Tried out a current model Fender XII before getting a 360/12. Sold the 360/12 for a 660/12 - love that guitar. However, the Boca hot-rodded with some Ric or Pyramid strings might be fun.

I had forgotten about this guitar.

I played one of these in a local shop, and thought it was quite nice, really.

Count:

Thanks for the MCC video. I haven't heard that song in a long time. The Fender XII looks just like mine. (Don't play it much, tho...I like the Rick a lot better).

Would also like to weigh in again on the topic. I used to have a 60's Vox Tempest XII (teardrop). The thing would never come close to intonating. I found out after taking the guitar apart 2 or 3 times that the bridge holes were drilled 1/2 inch too close to the neck. I sold the guitar before some kind soul told me what the correct fix was. Shoulda kept the groovy mirror pickguard, tho.

I also have used a Mosrite Celebrity 12. It's a hollow body, looks like a 335 with a Bart Simpson haircut, and with the toggle in the middle it has that great out-of-phase sound like the Fender. It's real twangy too. These models apparently haven't gone up in price like the solid bodies, but this is a good solid and reliable guitar.

Oh, yeah. You guys are absolutely killing me with all these pix. I want to play them all. Petty would (and probably has).

Enjoy your weekend.
