So Josh , you've waited almost two years for a rick 4003 ? OMG dude. Thats terrible man . No one should have to wait long for a bass thats not a custom shop instrument. And even that would be too long . :?

Im not trying to be offensive to anyone . I guess i just dont understand why the wait ? All my ricks are older so ive never had to wait . im glad i dont really care for the newer ones . I would never have waited that long to get my bass . Why such a long waiting period for new instruments ?

The wait is a function of the fact that Rickenbacker is a relatively small operation. They don't produce nearly as many instruments per year as Gibson, Fender, et al. JH has made the effort to keep the quality up and the production American. For many years now, the factory has operated at full capacity. I am guessing it is difficult increase capacity and maintain acceptable quality.

RIC is building them as fast as they can. Demand is greater than supply. I'm not sure if they still are, but they were considering moving to a new location and a larger factory a couple years back. But that's probably a lot harder to do than it sounds.

Edit: Hi Ted! :)

I hope you didn't think I was picking on you because I certainly wasn't. That is why I included the little smiley face. However, when subjects turn in that direction they often get nasty. Followed by some more nasties and then peoples feeling get hurt and then we have a jackpot. I apologize if I put you on the defensive. I was really being tongue in cheek.

    Yup. Besides with the wait, he's getting the walnut wings, full width inlays, probably a thinner neck, and the new UV cured CV.

Josh, I'll be interested in how the neck girth measurements are.

There are actually several people who have noticed similarities between these two fellows.
The JETGLO finish name should be officially changed to JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

You misundestand. All this time I have two other great Rics to play, so I'm not missing out. The wait has allowed me to get much better features than I would have and actually gave me a better investment because my bass will be worth ~$1000 more than I'm paying for it. So I'm actually GLAD I had to wait.

It's all a matter of perspective. Our culture is too focused on instant gratification and the customer always being king. I used to work for Walgreens in the pharmacy... trust me, if the customer is always king, then we are SCREWED.

So are we going to see future ebay adds..........." this is a rare thin neck 2008 model"......."the rare thin necks were only made on the 2008 model Rickenbackers" . "Here is a rare chance to own the rare thin neck very rare 08 not as thick and chunky as the 09 model 4003 thin neck with narrow case " ?
It's too early in the morning to talk about our relationship !
