No more c64? :(

Macca's bass was the first Rick bass I ever saw, and for a year or more, mid sixties, the only one. To me the flipped headstock was the real deal. Later I saw scores of them "correctly" capitated and learned the story of why Paul's was different, but first impressions are hard to shake and I will always have a special place in my personal iconography for that upside-down headstock. It may be "wrong" to some folks but to me it says Rickenbacker even more so than the correct design. And while I'm at it, the "frowning" TRC took some getting used to after seeing "the one" smiling at me from the TV screen and magazine pages all those years ago. Still does, actually

Call me peculiar, or just stuck in my perceptions, but to me the c64 is the "right one". :D

So what new basses would I like to see come out while I'm shopping for a used c64? A short scale bass of just about any description would be dandy :D .

Just point me to whomever is taking deposits (and I don't mean any of you knuckleheads :D )

And I will have a C64s someday.

I decided I liked the 4002ish guard with the 3rd pickup and two tone and two volume controls better. I did change out the black guard for a vintage gold styled guard though, which looks really nice.

My "guess" is checkered binding - they figured out a way to make it a one-step process. With the time saved with the UV CV. they figure it is worth it. Well, we're all dreaming here aren't we?!

Actually this should be really interesting because JH recently stated the backlog has not gone down as hoped. Wait, I've got it, they're also canceling the 4003 basses and focusing on just 4004 basses! Yeah, that's it!!

A reissue 4000? Unlikely. I remember John Hall saying (if memory doesn't betrays me) that there wasn't enough market for a single pickup bass like that. Besides, it wouldn't overlap with the 4001c64.

By bets: a 4001v68 or a re-reissue of the 4001v63, or some variation of it.

How about all the vintage features, CB, FWI, Vintage pups, walnut wings all wrapped up in a deluxe 4003 model available with a figured top and transparent finishes?

A vintage / modern / boutique 4003?

Works for me anyway...

Sounds good to me, Scott!

Vintage meets modern in a 4004 model would be too!

Rickenbacker is currently manufacturing "V" series guitars with "checked" binding......it wouldn't be a stretch to make a 4003 bass with checkered binding, full width inlays, and horseshoe/toaster pick-ups......that's my bet.

Nah, they'll introduce their own line of Rickenfakers and a line of 'What Were They Thinking?" factory modified basses.

Very true, Sam, but JH has stated the extra time constraints of double rout, double binding steps, and that the present one binding step takes a long time. That prompted my tongue-in-cheek one-step process statement. Hey, I'm dreaming right there with ya! :)

We're talking about a limited amount of instruments like the "C64(S)" basses not fullblown production like the 4003. I don't think it's a stretch at all. We will see!! :)
