Beatles catalog to be digitally remastered

Not a single pertinent fact. Purely opinion and speculation. Does this fellow even work in the industry?

+1. Purely a rant, and not much else.

I didn't think the catalog had been remastered at all and that was the driving force behind everybody wanting it remastered (unless you count the Yellow Submarine songtrack and the recent Capitol albums). Every other band from that era seems to have been remastered, so why not them? I'll buy at least one of the sets and, no, I don't think Freedom is a great song...

The Who remastered in 1995
The Stones remastered in 2002 (and their '71-'81 albums in 2008)
The Byrds remastered in 2004
The Kinks remastered in 2005

Now it's the Beatles turn. I'm really contemplating which set to get.

I'll get the mono first. The only mono mixes I already have, aside from the Anthology cuts, are from vinyl rips.

It can't be as bad as CCR, Jim Croce, or Jimi Hendrix. They have more compliation albums than original releases.


I'm trying to get an approximation of prices for the box sets, but I can't find a box set list on Best Buy. Best Buy lists the CDs at $18 (except for the two doubles) and they appear to be in stereo. It's a good thing I have a little while to decide what I'm getting because I may wind up just buying the albums individually. Why did they make this so hard?!?

Barnes & Noble list the Beatles LPs at $12.81 each-- the lowest I've seen thus far.
