+1 The headstock binding and f-hole binding are the only parts of it that bum me out. Would be just like PTs first 12 string if only the inlays had been done.
I do love those funky, short TRCs though. Anybody ever seen one on a US-spec model? I've only seen them on 1993s.

I haven't either.

The earliest 360S/12's like Pete's 1st had really thin, short TRC's, though a number of 1964 model 1993's were supplied with the "short nose" TRC's too. Full width, but trimmed short right after the last "r." I've heard they are the same size and spec as found on Lennon's 325/12

Here is an example of an early 1993 with a "short nose" TRC.

Someone who should know better was trying to peddle it as one of Pete Townshend's. It wasn't, but it's still a rare one...

Very nice early one with the trapeze tailpiece too.

Love the heavy red Fireglo on those early RM's.

That 1993 may be the most beautiful Rick 12 I've ever seen. Double bound, F hole, crushed pearl inlays, it's got it all. For my personal tastes I like it better than the Harrison Model.

I would love to do one just like that someday.

Was searching for this thread and found Dan's quote above...

How ironic!

It is indeed poetic justice that Dan ended up with this guitar -- for several reasons. 8)
