There are a bunch of bodies with Forstner routes in those photos, Tony.

What's up with that Jeff? I thought that was "old school". :?

I thought that type of routing was long gone...shows what I know eh? LoL!

...maybe it's this 381 body with a bass neck next to it...if the bass neck goes with the 381 body, then Joey (along with a few other folks) is going to keel over and faint about now...
That' could be a tease or the neck just wound up on that table for the photo or someone else will be enjoying one of my dream Rick basses.

Looking closer, that bass neck does not appear to be long enough to be a "neck through" for a 4003, and RIC hasn't made a set-neck bass since the end of the 4000/4001S series in the early '80s. They're up to something, but it is likely an experimental. I want it just the same!

I thought those were just the last of the 325 C58s, but I could be wrong. :)

Ah, good point. Yep. I wonder why a 381 bass would have a 4000 series headstock though; I would think it would have a headstock to match the 381 guitar. The 480/81 guitar had a headstock to match the 4000 series basses, so why not vice versa-unless it's a matter of the way the templates are set up to cut bass necks. :)

It's all in good fun--leave a few random oddball parts sitting next to some production bodies in various states of deshabille, and watch the jaws drop and tongues wag...

I think that is just a perspective thing, Paul, the body section does look long enough keeping the foreshortening in mind.

Players enjoy themselves, and so do watchers.

It's like Vegas... :D

What happens in the factory, (usually) stays in the factory. Then there's times like these...
