none taken just the thing for me - 610 and all the other plain/no trim solidbodies are some of the best players rics. i have huge collection of rickenbackers from early 60's all the way to modern era instruments and other makes of guitars as well and a small studio that i rent out here and there for about 5 months now and from all those bands that went through here everyone wants to try some 60's 360/12 or 370/12 and 4005 or 70's 360/12OS and 88' & 91' 360/12mcguinns or pair of 92' 660/12tp and i have right next to it 95' 610/12 and early 90's 4003s - guess what - those are the ones that get used the most -even on the recordings...and it is simple :people are not afraid of them at all, when most players come across priceless 4005 or 66' 360/12 they don't feel comfortable with it. pls. think about the fact that for many people even that cheapest modern 620/12 is just priceless guitar that they are afraid to jump around with... and here comes some plain hulk of 610 or 450..or 4003s - it plays the same but it looks like nothing special...for me it is THE winner for recent market

I don't think we're likely to see a 610 or 4001S again. If RIC introduces a new model, it has to be one that will actually sell. 1997, 360c63, 1999RM are good bets.

Yeah, I didn't mean the 610 or other "plain" Rickenbackers weren't 110% cool (they are), but I just feel like some of the body designs are just being done to death....

I love the 330/360/325/4003/cresting wave body shapes, but with so many other fantastic guitars in their history that are entirely different from everything else they make, such as the Capri and F-series, IMO it's a total waste to neglect reissuing them at some point.

Heck, my dream Ric is always a RM 1993, but I'd even like to see Capris or F's get reissued before that because it'd be a nice change with an entirely different kind of guitar, not the same body shape with a few minor changes.

I have discussed the custom shop issue with rick 10 years ago with customer service, and even at that point he said maybe someday. Meanwhile here is my buddy's gibson custom shop guitar. Gibson L5 body with switchmaster electronics. About as close to a 360 F as you are going to find new. Until rick reissues the 360 F.

Yes john I know. 3 early alnico pickups custom cream colored dog ear covers, extra block inlay at the 19th fret, bigsby, mother of pearl imperial heads on grover rotomatics, color as close to an aged yellowed L5. A year and a half to get but totally worth the wait. Some more pics of the building stages.

The Capri is my dream Rickenbacker and I hope to own one soon. I think one of the things that draws us to vintage guitars like the Capri, is that we all know how rare and elusive the acquisition of one can be. If a modern day version was now offered by Rickenbacker, would we still feel the same way about the beloved Capri? This is very interesting topic with many points of view, thanks for posting it.

I think the scarcity does make them appealing, but they would still be appealing even if reissued. IE, a '59 LP isn't any less revered or sought after, even after 20 years of various reissues.

I wish they would reissue the Capri, Combo 800 and 850, and one of the early basses. That would be a killer line up to follow up the C series.
